IJC visits snowy Lowari Top

It was a 750km round trip with amazing scenic route!
It was typical IJC Mad Max day trip! Well at least outwardly it seems so. For us the three mad maxians, it was a very nice easy trip thru out, except maybe the early morning leaving bit! IJC's day trip to Snowy Lowari Top - smiley smile
IJC was looking for destinations for annual snow cross, and Asad suggested alternate to Kalam which we have been visiting for last few years, coz it has guaranteed snow and is rather peaceful n quiet and to top it a nice open play ground for everyone!
So we left at 5:15 am from Asad's place, temp at the time in Isloo was 3 degree! We went nice n easy thru-out. There was a 30 minute break for breakfast. Surprisingly temps were still under 5 degree at 8 am, so hot tea + garam anday were thoroughly enjoyed!
We were in upper Dir by 11 am. Soon we met our host and went along to the Lowari tunnel. Although the tunnel has been open for few years, the road inside is till under construction, so its open only for limited times. The main tunnel length is just under 9 km! Coming out on the other end is a treat with snow covered mountains all round! The car was showing temps zero or -1 thru out even at noon! The drive back up to Lowari top from the other end was stunning as usual. The road had been cleared by army graders so it wasn't a difficult climb. We reduced tyre pressures to 20 psi to make ride a bit softer on the stony path.
After spending short time at the freezing top, we returned down towards Panakot, where we had lunch / tea / coffee!
We left for return journey around 6ish, a short kulfa falooda break (yes kulfa in those freezing temps) on the way! Otherwise we just continued without stopping! After dropping Asad n Zahid, I was home by midnight.
Must thnx Zahid, for all his lovely captures, I did take my camera along, but even on that, all captures were by Zahid. Have few vdos from mounted gopro, which I will post up soon!
