It really hurts me to see all that has been destroyed around our nothern areas, just a week before the flood IJC went all the way to hunza covering 1600 km of northern areas with eighty hours of drive through these beautiful valleys, pastures and mountain ranges. May Allah help us in this hour of need.

This morning, myself, Salman Alvi, Burhan Kundi and Waqas went to deliver the Lungar starting food items as arranged by Umair Satti at Chowky Drab (hope I have spelt it right).

The stuff was handed over to a local person as arranged by Maj Saboor Sb. The items were stored at a ‘Dera’. The langar is planned to start from tomorrow inshallah.

Later we went around in our vehicle to have a look around the flood devastation around the village, which was enormous, will post pics on the thread.

Finally we did go back to Pushtoon Garhi to check up on our langar situation. Salman paid up Maj Saboor as pre-arranged for the starting / running of new Langar.

We encountered a road block in Nowshera on our way back with people burning tyres, pre-sumably protesting lack of help n support at governmental level. So we had to proceed back from GT road.

For the benefit and knowledge of Team IJC and other people visiting this site I am posting the summary of brief telecon I had with Rahmat Khan in Mingora, who was the lead Swat IDP respresentative during Project Hathian.

    - Mingora City along with the rest of Swat valley has been severely hit by floods. Areas next to the rivers have been washed away and people are taking shelter in Schools throughout the area.
    - Kabal and Matta areas are completely cut off with the exception of dangerous link across the river by boat.
    - Kalam Road is cut off at Madyan and Kalam is only accessible via helicopter or by foot.
    - In Mingora, Some aid is being distributed by UNHCR but probably owing to small quantity and greater demand the general impression is that its not being distributed fairly.
    - One particular school in Haji Baba, Mingora is reported to have 55 people and is only getting PKR 2000 per day for food.
    - Incidence of diseases particularly amongst children is reported with eye diseases being very common.
